Facts about Email Autoresponder Software
February 9, 2010 by Parker Lewis
It is now a standard network fixture.
If you want to get your newsletter read by a higher number of subscribers, or at least get enough people to trust their emails to you, an autoresponder might be the best thing for you to invest in. The reason it’s called an autoresponder is because all it does is respond to emails that your subscribers send you back.
Once you get your autoresponder set up for its assignment, it takes over, answering each responder’s email just as if you yourself were personally writing them. Your subscribers may even believe that it is you answering them individually, or that you have an army of secretaries doing the work.
(However, many people, regardless of their familiarity with technology, are aware of auto responders. While they have not actually heard the work “autoresponder” prior, they are likely aware of automatically generated emails, especially considering the prevalence of emails that tell you “Please do not respond to this message.”)
She would also know no ordinary being could send a “thank you for signing up for my newsletter, Cora…” the second after she signed up; yet today’s networker has come to expect such an immediate, personalized response…
Because the autoresponder has become a standard network fixture. If you don’t have an autoresponder, your system is outdated and you may be suspected of exhibiting poor “netiquette” by keeping your subscribers waiting.
GetResponse, Aweber, or Another?
When looking for autoresponders, you might be looking to the two popular ones, Aweber and GetResponse. They’re “sequential” autoresponders, in that they respond to emails that your subscribers send you with predetermined emails that operate one after the other.
Of course there are other subscription autoresponder companies. But Aweber and GetResponse are easily the most popular. Their producers have been around longer than most of the competition and they have more features than other brands. They have been improved and fine-tuned over time.
So which brand is the best choice? There’s no easy answer, since both brands have numerous and faithful fans. My experience has been with Aweber, but GetResponse is also a good choice. Don’t obsess over your choice – either one is good. Just pick one brand of email autoresponder software – and catch up to the times!
