I started internet marketing in late 2007, and as many people seem to do, I drifted along without a clear idea of what I wanted to  do, or indeed how to actually do it properly.

Then I chanced upon an email from a guy I’d never heard of, who invited me to a webinar he was conducting about list building. I’d heard a few people say that “the money is in the list”, but I didn’t really know where to start so I thought, “why not”.

That guy was Tim Brocklehurst, and what I learned that evening in a free webinar totally changed the way I went about internet marketing.

Of course, the webinar also included mention of Tim’s latest product at the time, My Viral Spiral (MVS), and I was one of the first to snap it up.

Using what I had learned in the webinar, combined with Tim’s MVS script, I had a totally new business set up in days. No longer was I relying on casual visitors to buy from my banner ads and reviews. I was building a list. And a viral one at that.

Within two weeks of the seminar I had over 250 subscribers opted in through my MVS site, and 2 months on that had risen to over 1000. And I was making money at last, both by one time offers within MVS and through mailing my list with product recommendations.

I saw Tim’s training skills first hand when I assisted him in his very first Freedom Class. His knowledge, delivery, patience and understanding were outstanding, And the delegates came away from 2 very intense days with a complete profit funnel in place. In fact, it was at the Freedom Class that I had my second epiphony in Internet Marketing. I thought I understood the whole profit funnel concept. But it was here that it all really clicked into place.

And it’s not just training and scripts from Tim that have set me on my way. Through Tim’s forums, the Freedom Class and his friendship, I have also met some other great marketers, and formed a mastermind group of my own. Again, this was an idea I picked up from Tim, and it is massively important in my ongoing internet marketing career. Not only do we share ideas, but we make ourselves accountable to each other, and that gives us all the drive we need to move our businesses on to the next level.

A year or so on, and my list has grown to over 5000, and is on an “Upward Spiral”. It should hit 15,000 by the end of 2009. My profits have grown from pennies, to between 1,500 and 2,000 dollars per month and as my list grows, so will my profits. I will be launching my first product in a few weeks, confident that I have a great list of subscribers and the support of some other great marketers that I have met through my friendship with Tim.

Sure, there have been a lot of influences in my internet marketing career so far. With so many so called gurus out there, it’s hard not to be influenced. But Tim is the “real deal” and it was his training, his script, his friendship and his mentorship and the mastermind group set up on his recommendation that have had by far the biggest impact.

And, as a footnote, I will be “retiring” from my work life in the next couple of months, so I can spend more time with my beautiful wife and children, and for that Tim, I am more grateful than you could ever imagine.
